Business community discusses to find out the solution to private sector problems

The business community has started conversations to find ways for protecting the private sector and addressing issues of related workers when the pandemic of coronavirus has its multidimensional impacts.
Speaking at a Zoom discussion session assisted by internet technology today, the participants stressed Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), for being an umbrella organisation of private sectors, should take a lead in this course and the payment issue of workers should be decided under its leadership.

”The entire industrial sector has remained closed due to lockdown, it is unsure how long lockdown goes and lockdown has its impact on remittance, tourism, import-export business and in the entire private sector,” they said.
During the discussion organised by the Society of Economic Journalists ( SEJON), president of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), Satish Kumar More, assured the final decision in regard with the payment of workers would be taken within a week after discussions with all stakeholders concerned.

Employers joining the discussions suggested for 33 percent contribution by employers, the government and employees themselves to address payment issues. They discussed potential ways for protecting small-scale industries, those industries being operated on bank loan and the entire business sector through the consequences of COVID-19 crisis.
FNCCI, CNI, Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Hotel Association of Nepal and Nepal Associations of Travel Agents chairs and officials joined the conversations coordinated by the Employers Council.
