Gmeiner, born at Vorarlberg of Austria on June 23, 1919 had established the SOS Children’s Village for the protection of the children who lost their parents and homes in the World War II.

Currently, 106 countries have SOS Children’s Villages which have been providing care and ensuring upbringing and education to the homeless and orphans. In these schools, 1260 children are provided care and education, said Director Sitaram Subedi at SOS Children’s Village in Nepal.

The activities this year were however organized virtually due to COVID-19 pandemic. On the occasion, speech and drawing competitions were organized among the children from 10 Children’s Villages of Nepal.
