12 houses burned to ashes, one woman killed in fire

Gaighat, April 8 : Twelve houses were gutted in a fire that broke out last night in Nepaltar bazaar of Udayapurgadhi rural municipality-6.
An elderly woman died while property worth more than 60 million rupees was destroyed, according to police. The fire originated from the house of Narayan Tamang at around 11: 00 pm and engulfed adjoining 11 houses, DSP Nawaraj Bhatta at the District Police Office, Udayapur said.
Tamang’s 70-year-old mother Barimaya Tamang died in the incident. Fire tenders from Katari and Triyuga municipalities put out the fire at around 3:00 am this morning. The houses of Tek Prasad Shrestha, Bharat Karki, Bir Bahadur Tamang, Til Kumari Dahal, Nirmala BK, Labaraj Karki, Tilak Man Tamang and Ramesh Khatiwada, among others were gutted along with the food stock, clothing and ornaments. (RSS)
